About John
John Gaudreau, a talented and passionate ice hockey player, has made a significant impact both on and off the ice. John developed a love for hockey at a very young age. His remarkable skill and dedication to the sport quickly set him apart, leading him to play for the prestigious Boston College Eagles, where he showcased his incredible talent and earned numerous accolades, including the Hobey Baker Award as the top college hockey player in the nation and gained the title and lasting nickname, “Johnny Hockey.”
Professionally, John was drafted by the Calgary Flames in the fourth round of 2011 NHL Draft and made his NHL debut in 2014. Known for his speed, agility, and playmaking abilities, he quickly became a fan favorite and a key player for the Flames. Throughout his career, John continued to excel in the NHL, earning seven All-Star selections and established himself as one of the league’s most dynamic forwards. His contributions to the game have not only brought excitement to fans, but have also inspired countless aspiring young players.
Off the ice, John was known for his humility, sportsmanship, kind heart and commitment to giving back to the community. He was involved in various charitable initiatives, using his platform to raise awareness for important causes and support youth hockey programs. Many of his efforts were alongside his brother, Matthew.
As we honor John’s legacy, we celebrate not only his achievements as a professional ice hockey player, but also his character as a devoted husband and father, a loving son and brother and a person who genuinely cared about his community and those around him. NHL super star life aside, John's children were his whole entire world. John and his wife Meredith have a daughter Noa, a son Johnny, and a third baby due to arrive in April 2025.
